Field Services Technical Lead (RPAS/UAS/Robotics)

We are currently looking for a Field Services Technical Lead to support our key Western Canada Enterprise Customers with Proof of Concepts (POC), onboarding, and training. This is a new position for RMUS in Western Canada and is crucial to ensuring that our customers launch their programs successfully and generate ROI right away.

We are known for great customer service, product knowledge, professional and informed staff, and the ability to provide the right solutions. We value independence, sense of humour, flexibility, and the ability to communicate your opinions.

The Role

Use the button at the end of the description to send your resume and cover letter. You MUST include a cover letter.

Our foundational customer value is what we call RMUS @Work. We use all the equipment we sell in the field for real world applications. No theoretical vaporware. It is critically important to our leading edge customers that we support real world use cases and not just sell boxes.

As our Field Services Technical Lead you will be responsible for leading Proof of Concept deployments in the field on customer sites. This will include operating equipment (i.e. flying and “driving”), facilitation of tier 2 and 3 support with our OEM partners , training customers, and generally ensuring the success of the use cases. The role will involve travel in Western Canada and up to 2 weeks at a time on site. You will be comfortable in local and remote locations on sites involved in mining, oil and gas, and other industrial activities. You are no stranger to hard hats!

Reporting to the Director of RMUS Western Canada in Calgary, you will also be running customer onboarding sessions for RMUS aircraft (and ground robotics) when you are not on site, and will be responsible for conducting additional basic operational training. You will ensure that the customer has basic “buttons and knobs” knowledge of the aircraft, knows where all the support resources and contacts are on the website, and understand the additional ways that RMUS can help them (licensing, training, upgrading etc.).

You will need to be an independent self starter that is very well organized and comfortable working via telephone, Teams, and in person. You will be working with additional contractors and resources on site in a supervisory or collaborative role depending on the project.

We will support you with a great team of technical experts in the US and Canada as well as solid engineering support from our OEM partners. We’ll ensure that you are well trained and ready to help when you get in front of the customers.

This role will initially be remote with a potential hybrid role with our Calgary office. You may be based in Alberta or BC with a preference for Greater Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton. Once again you should expect to be on customer sites 2 weeks per month.

The Requirements:

  • Canadian Advanced RPAS certification (mandatory)
  • Have a minimum 3 years of experience with UAV/RPAS or robotics in a piloting, commercial use or inspection role
  • Be extremely comfortable training/presenting/teaching a variety of types of audience.
  • Be flexible and willing to learn – as a new and rapidly growing business there are a lot of hats to wear.

Nice to Have’s but not deal breakers

  • Fixed Wing UAS Operations experience
  • UAS lidar experience
  • Maintenance, repair or hobby drone/RC building experience
  • Geomatics background, knowledge of Pix4D, DJI, Terra, Agisoft etc.
  • Previous Remote Site work experience

  • Technical diploma or degree
  • Second language

Remuneration

  • Company performance bonus (annual)
  • Premium Benefits package (medical, full dental, eyeware, disability, life etc.)
